Ulster Wildlife Trust seeks Butterfly Monitors
We are currently looking for volunteers to help build up accurate records of the butterfly species that are found across all of our 20 Nature Reserves. We would be particularly interested to hear from anyone who could help on the following reserves - Blessingbourne, Glendun, Umbra, Bog Meadows, Inishargy Bog and Ballydyan.
After an initial days training, you will be required to spend just one hour a week at at a reserve recording the different species present and then send the data into the Crossgar office. There are a few guidelines: monitoring must be done between April and October during suitable bright weather conditions; monitoring must be carried out between 10.45am and 3.45pm; and the temperature must be above 13 degrees centigrade.
You don't need any specific skills but if you are a dedicated person with a good eye for detail, an interest in butterflies and enjoy recording data, this could be the role for you.
If you are interested, please contact Ian Cardwell, Volunteering Officer or if you would like more specific details on this role, please contact Stewart Glass, Nature Reserves Officer.
