Nature Reserves Volunteer

The Nature Reserves team based at the Crossgar office is currently looking for additional volunteers to assist with the management of the Trust’s 20 nature reserves across Northern Ireland.

Some aspects of our work that you would be involved in includes; practical conservation tasks, assisting with species monitoring, compiling flora/fauna lists for each site, project work, bird box building, tool inventories and risk assessments.

Volunteers don’t need any previous experience but a basic knowledge and interest in nature conservation and wildlife would be beneficial. You should be enthusiastic, reasonably fit and enjoy working outdoors. Also, you must have good interpersonal skills, enjoy working as part of a small team, keen to learn and have a positive attitude. Resourcefulness and a degree of flexibility are also vital to volunteering on our nature reserves.

The Nature Reserves team are generally out between 9.30am and 4pm across Monday to Friday, but there may be early starts/late finishes if work is being carried out on one of the remoter sites. Lifts can be arranged on the Ulster Wildlife Trust truck if transport is an issue.
