A unique site in our network of nature reserves, Glendun is an organic hill farm in the Antrim Glens. On a clear day, great views can be enjoyed from the heather-clad plateau at the top of the glen. This upland habitat is breeding ground for the threatened red grouse. The pasture on the lower slopes is grazed by Irish moiled cattle, a traditional and hardy breed, and sheep.
Access: There are no formal paths on the nature reserve so hiking boots are recommended for any intrepid explorers! The nature reserve is open to the general public.
Getting There: The nature reserve is accessed off the A2, 3 miles north of Cushendall. Take the minor road at the Glendun Viaduct, signposted to Glendun and drive for 1 mile. Park beside the old schoolhouse.
Look out for: primrose, waxcap fungi, dipper, hen harrier, buzzard, red squirrel.
