By doing one thing each term, students can learn more about wildlife and create a place where they can have fun exploring nature. Register your school now to get involved and see your Breathing Place take shape.

It's easy to take part and once you have registered you will receive your free 'Do One Thing' pack, which includes all the information and materials you need to get active for wildlife.

Feeding Wildlife

Goldfinch on feederThe winter term 2008 'Do One Thing' activity is 'Feeding Wildlife'. This activity will help birds through the winter by providing them with food and water. You will also learn about UK mammals and how you can discover which ones have been visiting your school's Breathing Place to forage for food.

All that you need to get started can be downloaded from the BBC website. The Teacher's notes will help you to plan the best way to feed birds and to create suitable food from waste and recycled materials. You will also find lots of interesting facts about feeding wildlife along with ideas for related activities in a range of curriculum areas.
