Trees
The autumn term’s ‘Do One Thing’ activity focuses on trees.
All that you need to get started can be downloaded from the BBC Breathing Places website. The Teacher’s Notes will help you to identify different types of trees, grow trees from seed and work out the age of a tree.
There are also lots of interesting tree facts and classroom activities such as paper making, nature displays, bark rubbings, and creating a natural work of art from twigs, leaves, seeds and fruit.
Schools are encouraged to hold a 'Tree day' around the 10 November to plant out their rowan sapling provided by Breathing Places Schools. Suggested activities for the day will be posted on the BBC website.
Woodland Tree Guide
Check out our guide on 'Woodland Trees and Plants’ to help you get more from your 'Do One Thing' activity this term. It is packed with hints and tips on planting and looking after native trees – whatever space you have – and explains why native trees are important for wildlife.
